Keynote 1:
Vivianne Robinson, William Walker Oration
Viviane Robinson
Professor in the Faculty of Education at the University of Auckland, New
Zealand
As an evaluator of New Zealand's first major school improvement
initiative, Viviane Robinson has worked collaboratively with teachers,
community leaders, and policy makers to make the initiative a national
leader in the use of teacher-controlled achievement data to improve teaching
and learning. She is also Director of the graduate programme in educational
management and Academic Director of the Firsttime Principals Programme -
New Zealand's national induction program for school principals.
NOTE: The annual William Walker Oration is dedicated to the memory of WG
(Bill) Walker, who died suddenly on 25 July 1991 at the age of 62. Professor
Walker taught and carried out research in several Australian and overseas
universities and was founding editor of The Journal of Educational
Administration and The Practising Manager and author of numerous books and
articles on educational management.

Dr. Heidi Hayes Jacobs has consulted with schools around the world on issues and practices pertaining to curriculum reform, strategic planning, and instructional strategies to encourage critical thinking. She is the author of Mapping the Big Picture: Integrating
Curriculum and Assessment K-12, published by ASCD.

Dr. Peter Senge
Founding Chairperson of SoL and senior lecturer at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology
