Tonight we had two great presentations. The first one was VoIP software from Skype followed by backup and deployment software from Acronis..
We use Skype every main meeting so Alex can be with us from Melbourne. It is a great piece of Internet phone and video conferencing software and this month Kenny McGilvray from Upstream Australia Skype’s PR Company gave us a great chance to get the inside scoop on how it works
Skype is VoIP technology, that is sending voice over your internet providers connection.
With Skype you can make both voice and video calls to any Skype connection free. Skype is free to download
After the break Simon Bills and Serery Zimin gave the group a complete run down on the Acronis True Image Home 2009
Simon is National Distribution Manager for Acronis and gave us the details of the company and its setup.
and after a brief rundown on the company he then discussed why Acronis is in the top of its field in backup and imaging software. Simon followed on with a run down on the major features of the new 2009 Acronics software. Which includes Acronis Migrate Easy 7, Acronis Disk Director Suite 10 and True Image Home 2009
Then Sergery got down to the nuts and bolts of how True Image Home 2009 works for us.
The front page and setting the back up dates, the times and types of back up, .once set up Acronis gives you a summary of the back up details.
Sergery demonstrated just how you can drill down to set backup options.
If all that is too technical, try the Acronis simple one touch backup.
Simon also supplied support details so the members could get the most out of the trail software and support is readily available to any Acronis user:
Thanks to Simon all the members took home a trail version of Acronis True Image 2009, while two members had a chance to take home the full version which is about two weeks from being released to the stores.
Tony Zaglas took home the other copy
Our first winner, admiring the Acronis cap was Michelle South
